Research and Development Enabling Fund

The Enabling Fund aims to promote the technical development of civil engineering and tackle problems in design or construction identified by practitioners.

The aim of the Fund is to help research projects get underway, rather than completely fund projects. Each application is reviewed by two independent experts in the relevant field. The Fund’s Committee grants successful submissions up to £25,000 each year as partial funding. The fund receives its income through voluntary donations from ICE members and others.

The Committee makes decisions on which projects to fund at its twice yearly meetings. It also decides when to make payments and in how many payments.

The Fund receives income via voluntary donations from ICE members with their subscriptions as well as other donations.
