Applicants choose to work on their choice of nine projects, which are integral to ICE's Business Plan and will have an impact on the industry.
Tim, through shortlisting and phone interviews, chose the following eight candidates to be his apprentices for the year.
In addition to working alongside ICE staff members on their chosen projects, they will be spending some quality time with Tim.

Being a President's Apprentice is a fantastic opportunity to engage with industry leaders who I would normally never encounter, and see how they view the profession. As clichéd as it sounds, I am also really excited to get a better understanding of how the ICE forms and enacts policy, and how our cohort can support Professor Tim Broyd's vision for developing the digital agenda in our profession, as I am convinced we can do much better than the status quo.

Being one of this year's President's Apprentices presents a fantastic opportunity to learn more about and contribute to the work of ICE alongside industry leaders – I am really looking forward to the year ahead!

I am really looking forward to working with the President and tackling anything he wants to throw at us. With his guidance hopefully we can achieve something that will be really useful to the civil engineering industry.
I live by the Ghandi quote "be the change you wish to see in the world" and try to remember, "if you don't ask, you don't get".
I want to use engineering to help others to make the world a better place, it is all about teamwork and collaboration, and that is why I think the Sustainable Development Goals are so important for a bright future.
I am so excited to be meeting other young leaders in the industry, and experienced professionals that can support and guide us to be the change we want to see.
The ICE's international base is expected to grow substantially in the coming years, and with that will see new challenges. I hope to work with the ICE to grow our membership abroad, and gain a greater understanding of members' needs across an international spectrum.
Graduate Civil and Structural Engineer
I am really excited about the scheme since I love engineering for the difference it makes to people's lives. Doing work that has a positive impact on people's lives is really exciting and the opportunity to help answer key civil engineering questions at a policy and society level so early in my career is a real privilege.
I am excited, and honoured, to have the opportunity as a President's Apprentice to share my passion, experience and dedication in this area to further the positive impact Civil Engineering has on society and look forward to working with the team to do so.

I hope to use my role as a President's Apprentice to promote the benefits of civil engineering in the region and turn engineering knowledge into action.
