ICE West Midlands Law & Contract Management (NEC) course

About this event

The course is suitable for engineers and associated professionals in both civil engineering and construction. It can be seen either as support for project management or the first stage for qualification as an arbitrator. The course has been approved by the ICE as being a suitable preparation for their examination. The full course (including examination preparation) will require of the order of 120 hours of study time. The course will follow the ICE's published syllabus.

If you're working towards your Chartered Professional Review, passing the exam will help to develop your commercial awareness.

For graduates on approved training schemes, the course could be worth up to five days' approved training per module (at the discretion of your supervising civil engineer).

Course aims:

  • To explain the English legal system and its application to civil engineering contracts.
  • To explain the contents of the contract documents, the contract procedure, the reasons why disputes arise and how they can be resolved.
  • To prepare candidates for the ICE Law and Contract Management Examination.
