About this workshop

Initial Professional Development (IPD) is the period in your career before you become professionally qualified. Through your work and other experience, you develop the special skills, knowledge and abilities needed for the ICE Professional Review. IPD progress is measured against a set of 9 Attributes.

There are a number of routes to membership, e.g. Training Agreement, Mentor Supported, Career Appraisal, EU route. Each route requires you to demonstrate that you have achieved these 9 Attributes (at Incorporated Engineer MICE or Chartered Engineer MICE level) – either through the IPD Online system or by an Attribute Achievement Form.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is your ongoing learning and how you stay up to date. This must be planned and recorded.

To give you a detailed understanding of these two elements of IPD, five 4-hour workshops have been arranged at different locations around the East of England. Each workshop will be the same. Your local ICE Membership Development Officer (MDO) will go through the Attributes describing what is required for each one as well as explaining the different levels of achievement for IEng MICE and CEng MICE.

Your MDO will also go through the requirements for CPD and the ways it can be achieved and recorded.
