Overview

Being able to communicate effectively is one of the most useful skills an engineer can have.

Since January 2022, a Communication Task is now incorporated into the ICE’s Professional Review process, replacing the previous Written Exercise

This event will provide guidance on how to communicate well within a series of industry-specific themes or contexts.

Although open to everyone, this event may be particularly useful to those preparing for their Professional Review at CEng level.

The purpose of this is to stimulate discussion on current issues within the industry. It may enable attendees to become more confident in writing arguments logically and clearly within a given scenario and a response format. This session will focus particularly on the themes of decarbonisation and climate impacts.

The format of the session will typically consist of:

Scenario Theme 1 - Productivity Challenge

  • 20 min presentation by a guest speaker (details shared nearer the event)
  • 25 min breakout group discussion
  • 15 min group feedback

Scenario Theme 2 - Emerging Technologies

  • 20 min presentation by a guest speaker (details shared nearer the event)
  • 25 min breakout group discussion
  • 15 min group feedback

The event is hosted by Graduate & Student committees from Northern Ireland Region and The Southwest and Wales region.
