Overview

Join Membership Development Officers Louisa Rix (MDO – East of England) and Laura Evans (MDO- East of England) for this interactive virtual workshop to find out more and start progressing your Experiential Learning Assessment application. The experiential learning assessment (ELA) is for experienced engineers who are graduates, Technician or Incorporated Members of ICE, who have either:

  • an accredited foundation degree, an accredited HND, an accredited HNC, or a qualification that has been assessed to be equivalent to one of these and who wants to become an Incorporated Civil Engineer (IEng MICE).
  • or an accredited Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and who wants to become a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE).

Using the Experiential Learning Route could bridge the academic gap. Successful ELA applicants will be able to go on to complete their Initial Professional Development at IEng or CEng level and then apply for professional review.

This online workshop will help you to understand the requirements of the Route and how you can identify, describe, and discuss the theory you have learnt and applied through your work experience. This session will discuss learning outcomes; help you identify the science, maths and design practice that underpins your work, and explore how you can convey this in your written submission. The workshop will be interactive and discussion-based.

To help you get the most out of it, please review the Experiential Learning Guidance document either for IEng or CEng.

This session aims to give you an understanding of the process and requirements for compiling the required application documents for the Experiential Learning Assessment.
