Overview

This briefing is intended as an update for existing SCEs and IPD Online Mentors and provides a briefing for prospective SCEs, DEs and Mentors. It summarises the roles and responsibilities of SCEs, DEs and Mentors, and provides guidance on the activities associated with supporting trainees through their Initial Professional Development. An insight into how to use IPD Online is also provided.

If you wish to become an SCE or mentor, you will also need to submit an application form, a short CV, and a CPD plan and record for the previous 12 months in addition to attending this briefing.

It is recommended that you read the ICE Training Scheme Guidance, or the Mentor Supported Guidance, as appropriate, prior to attending this session.
