Learn more about the uses and application of BIM

The UK Government mandated use of BIM on large public projects in the belief that as a client they would derive significant improvements in cost, value and carbon performance. They are now handing the impetus for change over and ICE is leading industry to realise BIM’s potential.

Basic awareness

If you’re still getting to grips with BIM, start with this introductory content including an overview plain-English description, guiding principles and an illustrative case study of BIM use.

Definition – "BIM is a shared digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of any built object (including buildings, bridges roads, etc) which forms a reliable basis for decisions" from BS ISO 29481-1 2010
