There is much scientific speculation and growing knowledge about what the actual effects and severity of climate change will be from a global perspective and also what the timescales associated with these will be. However, different parts of the world will be affected in different ways and by varying effects. This event will focus on Scotland, what type and magnitude of changes are we likely to encounter during the 21st century, compared with the climate we have become accustomed to.


Fraser Ralston

Chartered Meteorologist

Fraser Ralston is a chartered meteorologist who has worked constantly in meteorology since 1985. Principal roles have been forecasting and communicating all facets of the weather to a very wide array of specialist customers , such as SEPA, the media, worldwide aviation, the offshore oil and marine industry, winter season de-icing for transportation, and Government resilience to name a few. He has worked as an advisor to bodies such as Transport Scotland and Gatwick Airport ltd to help plan and mitigate against the effects of disruptive weather events. Additionally, Fraser had the rare experience of three secondments to Antarctica between 2004 and 2011 to assist with the British Antarctic Survey programme. He has this year co-authored a children’s educational book concerning weather and climate change.
