3D Geological Fault Modelling to support Capable Faulting Assessment, Nottingham

About this event

Extensive research and site specific investigations have been undertaken as part of the Seismic Hazard Assessment for the proposed Nuclear Power Station site at Wylfa Newydd on the Isle of Anglesey in Wales for Horizon Nuclear Power. This presentation will describe aspects of the capable faulting assessment, one of the three strands of the seismic hazard assessment.

The development of the geological fault model for the site will be discussed, including innovative petrographic analysis and absolute age dating of fault material that was used to understand and date fault movement.
