Design review of the 900m redevelopment at London Station concourse, Swansea

About this event

This is an event hosted by the ICE Swansea Graduate and Student Committee is an open event for all ICE members, associated societies and students to attend. Mr. Kenward is a long-standing Institutional member and representative. He has a wealth of experience and we encourage all to attend.

There were lots of challenging aspects of this project and how they were overcome will be discussed. We are keen to commend the good work on this project, share learnings and welcome any questions at the end.

The presentation will cover the technical aspects and programme, staging and special constraints that had to be addressed to allow the station to remain in operation throughout construction and how this drove design solutions to ensure key handover dates were achieved, within a set programme of key milestones.

Mr. Kenward will go into detail on aspects of the temporary works, tolerances, performance requirements and final design details used in the 12,000 m2 concourse area (larger than the pitch at Wembley), all of which contributed to delivery of a high-quality project whilst minimizing disruption. These will include the main rail bridges, control and support buildings and facades.

Light Refreshments will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.
