About this event

An overview of the A63 Castle Street Improvement scheme and Princes Quay Bridge schemes in Hull. Both schemes have been in development for many years and now there is significant progress on both schemes there is an opportunity to discuss the unique technical, programme and engineering challenges each scheme presents.

The Princes Quay Bridge scheme is currently on site and the A63 Castle Street Improvement scheme, which involves building a 400m long underpass through Hull City Centre is in the examination period for approval of a Development Consent Order.


James Leeming

Senior Project Manager, Highways England

James has worked on both schemes for two years and will present an introduction to the scheme and history to date. James is also Chair of the CIHT Yorkshire and Humber Region.

Richard Green-Morgan

Construction Manager, Balfour Beatty

Richard will discuss some of the construction and programme challenges the A63 Castle Street scheme presents.

Sonam Norbu

Project Manager, Arup

Arup are the designer for both Princes Quay Bridge and the main A63 scheme. Sonam is bridge engineer with by profession and has been involved on the project for 5 years taking it from concept design through AiP and various stages of detailed design.

Steve Thwaite

Project Manager, Princes Quay Bridge

Steve has over 30 years’ experience of managing Civil Engineering Projects and has been involved with this project since June 2018.
