Aberdeen to Inverness Route Enhancement, Aberdeen

About this event

In order to meet the Transport Scotland objective of providing enhanced commuter services to Aberdeen and Inverness, and to enhance the end to end service, NWR were commissioned to develop and undertake a series of improvements on the Aberdeen to Inverness railway line. These consisted of:

  • Redoubling of 16 miles of track and associated earthworks, bridge renewals, extensions, strengthening and drainage
  • 3 new stations with car parks at Forres, Kintore and Dalcross and platform extensions
  • Signalling, telecomms and power upgrades
  • Level crossing upgrades

The presentation will give an overview of the scheme, how the scheme was developed, the contract, the programme and challenges.

It will then focus, in more detail, on the challenges of the refurbishment of Don Viaduct and the use of 3D BIM modelling used at Kintore station.

Registration from 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start.
