Advances on the A6, Belfast

About this event

This lecture will describe the progress on the A6 Randalstown to Castledawson dual-carriageway project. The scheme is dualling approximately 15km of the A6 from the M22 to the start of the Toome Bypass, and from the end of the Toome Bypass as far as Castledawson at a cost of approximately £160 million.

The first part of the presentation, delivered by David Porter of DfI will provide an overview of the aims and rationale for the improvements to the existing road. This will be followed by an overview of the design challenges faced by the consultants presented by Alec Patterson of AECOM.

The final section of the presentation delivered by Gareth McLaverty of the Graham Farrans Joint Venture‎, will concentrate on the technical and operational advances of the scheme including social clauses, use of drones and the technology adopted to improve efficiency.
