Public awareness of environmental protection in Hong Kong has been significantly surging in recent years. Since the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (Cap. 499) came into operation in 1998, all designated projects listed in Schedules 2 and 3 of the Ordinance are required to obtain environmental permit for the construction and operation. Among various attributes of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), air quality and noise impact of these designated projects during construction and operations are often the major concerns of the stakeholders. Different parties put concerted efforts to protect the environment through the EIA mechanism.
ICE HKA G&S is honoured to have Mr Steven Wong, Associate Director, Environment, AECOM Asia Company Limited, to present on the “Introduction of air quality and noise impact assessments in the context of Hong Kong”. Features of the seminar include an introduction to the Environmental Impact Assessment, followed by explanations on concepts of air quality and noise impact assessments. Particular case studies will be presented to further illustrate the assessments.
