Using pre-recorded material, there will be a competition for participants to assess how deep a hole can be made without collapse. This will be followed by a discussion about what makes excavation so dangerous and the importance of retaining structures.
This session forms part of ICE President Paul Sheffield’s Visit to the South East England Region and takes the theme of ‘Getting the Basics Right’. The President will reflections on the importance of the basics as a foundation for the potentially seismic changes that technology will bring in the future.
