After a successful meeting last year with 30 members and guests attending, we will remain at Cowdray Park again this year. The course is a 6231 yard, Par 70 set in the heart of the South Downs National Park, in the grounds of Cowdray Park, close to the borders of Hampshire and Surrey. The course overlooks the dramatic ruins of old Cowdray House, which was destroyed by fire in 1793, and provides breath taking views over the Sussex Downs and the Estate's woodland and polo fields.
The format is lunch from 12.30pm, singles stapleford, followed by an evening meal and prize giving. This year we will again be playing for The Barry Staynes Trophy. For the more serious golfers, performances will be used as the basis for selection of the South Branch’s team for the Thomas Telford Trophy 2019 which will be held at Hilton Templepatrick Hotel Golf and Country Club hosted by the Northern Ireland Region on Monday 2 September.
However the golf meeting is primarily a social event and members are encouraged both to invite guests and to e-mail the details to other golfing members or put this flyer onto your workplace notice board so that we can try to increase the numbers attending. If you wish to have the details emailed on to anybody, please contact Andy Salmon (see contact details below). If you would like to play, please return the reply form as soon as possible. The good news is that the cost of entry will be the same as last year at £50.00 per player to cover a round of golf and evening meal. Alternatively members and guests can play 9 holes in the morning as well, for a total cost of £65.00 which includes coffee and bacon rolls on arrival. A buffet lunch will be an additional £10.00 if required whether you are playing in the morning or just the afternoon. Entry fees are payable by 24 May (details overleaf) because the club will now charge for late withdrawals. Further details on timings and directions will be provided nearer the day.
Please see the flyer which includes the reply form for entries.
