ICE Graduates and Students Network, with the support of the Membership Development team, are hosting an Aspiring Engineers event, which is an opportunity for engineers approaching their professional review to practice their presentations to an audience of their peers.
For the audience, this event will provide the opportunity to gain knowledge of various projects being delivered by experienced graduate engineers in the region.
There will be a variety of topics presented on the night, and an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each talk. You will also be free to network following the presentations.
Refreshments will be provided.
Peter is a graduate engineer working for Jacobs Highways undertaking the planning and design of Devon County Council Framework Contract. Peter will talk about the challenges faced with infrastructure projects, in particular within constraints in rural Devon that are encountered when attempting to find particular solutions to accomplish safety engineering.
Hannah is a civil/structural engineer with 4 and a half years' experience working for Jacobs. Starting out in the Maritime Department, she was responsible for the analysis and design of jetty's, access bridges and offshore Islands. She is now part of a team involved in periodic safety reviews for nuclear related assets at various naval facilities around the country. Hannah also spent 6 months as a client representative on the dredging project for the arrival of the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier in Portsmouth. This will be the focus of the presentation.
Ashley is a civil engineer with 5 years' experience in the industry. He has carried out roles in site supervision, project and programme management, design development, economic appraisal and business case development. His current position at Mott MacDonald has seen him contribute through all stages of the Devon & Cornwall Appraisal Package, from bidding and package management through to developing designs and finalising business cases. This presentation will include a glimpse into each of these areas and how they have contributed towards his professional development.
