About this event

Since 2001 the Franklin's Gardens has been expanded three times from a capacity of just under 10,000 to 13,591, with the site being developed from an old wooden Members' Stand, small terrace and temporary stands into a purpose-built venue that is the envy of rugby clubs throughout the country and a place which receives rave reviews from the media.

The new Barwell Stand has taken the capacity over 15,500, representing the single biggest leap in capacity in the history of Franklin's Gardens.

Its state-of-the-art facilities will include:

  • Seating for all spectators with guaranteed view of the action, replacing the current standing areas in front of boxes and ground floor patio.
  • 1,900 seats.
  • Improved disabled access and providing addition viewing areas for disabled supporters at ground and upper floor levels.
  • New ground floor Members' Bar (332m2 compared to current 210m2)
  • Replace current first floor suite (capacity 200) with new suite holding up to 270 people.
  • Replace current 21 hospitality boxes with 10 new boxes.
  • State-of-the-art stadium control room, amenities and turnstiles, replacing current out-dated facilities.

Duncan Halliday will talk about the new Barwell Stand.
