Benefiting from confidential reporting on structural safety, Birmingham

About this event

CROSS is a confidential reporting scheme for safety matters concerned with the design, construction and use of structures. CROSS was established to share lessons learned which might not otherwise have had formal recognition.

CROSS maintains a database of anonymised reports and publishes quarterly CROSS Newsletters with comments from the CROSS Panel of Experts.

The presentation will discuss the benefits of CROSS and how it can promote changes in culture, standards or legislation, when a trend is detected. Examples of concerns submitted to CROSS about design, construction and use of structures will form part of the discussions.

Dr Paul McNulty

Dr Paul McNulty is a Senior Engineer at Structural-Safety, the organisation which encompasses SCOSS (Standing Committee on Structural Safety) and CROSS (Confidential Reporting on Structural Safety). He has extensive design and assessment experience in structural engineering, including completing a PhD on an innovative arch bridge design. Paul has worked in a consultancy as a structural engineer and has experience in working in both the offshore oil and gas industry, and the onshore building industry.
