Blast and Ballistic Testing - Standard Methods (and going off-piste), Ipswich

10 November, 2015 | 18:00 - 20:00

Investigating the behaviour of buildings, doors, windows and vehicles.
Investigating the behaviour of buildings, doors, windows and vehicles.

About this event

This talk shall be about the use of testing to investigate the behaviour of buildings, doors, windows, vehicles and other materials under blast, ballistic and other impact loads. Tests are made necessary because desktop methods do not deal properly with complex material behaviour and in any case require calibration/verification.

Some of this can be done using methods set out in a range of codes of practice, but many problems require the application of innovative testing approaches. Both the established tests will be described, along with some one-off experiments.

Speaker

David Goode is from DJ Goode & Associates Ltd, a leading firm of consulting engineers specialising in the provision of counter terrorism advice, security design, blast and ballistic engineering and weapon effects on structures.
