29 November, 2016 | 18:00 - 19:30

Designing a landmark structure.
Designing a landmark structure.

About this event

Having the opportunity to design a landmark structure which will represent for generations the character of a region is a good example of why every civil engineer decides to choose this profession. Javier will talk through his experience as a designer of the A14 cable stayed bridges, and will demonstrate that young engineers can make the difference in the design of flagship structures.

Javier will focus his presentation not only on some of the technical difficulties of the design (dynamics, temperature effects…) but also on further key aspects such as communication or aesthetics.
