About this event

Are you looking for a career in the civil engineering industry?
Do you want to find out more about the role of a graduate civil engineer?
Have you any questions about the route to professional recognition?

Then come along to Bridging the Gap, an informative event aimed at final year students and recent graduates, to give an insight into the civil engineering profession.

The ICE EAB G&S are delighted to welcome six experienced graduates who all work in different sectors of the industry, with a focus on consulting and contractor backgrounds.

The graduates will share with you an insight into:

  • Their first impressions of working in the industry;
  • Their experience of life as a graduate engineer;
  • How to make the best use of any opportunities you are given, and;
  • How they secured employment and their top tips for application success.

They will also be joined by ICE Membership Development Officer for the North and East of Scotland, Peter Robinson, who will provide an explanation of the routes used for achieving professional recognition with the ICE.

After the formal presentations we welcome everyone to join our presenters for a few refreshments courtesy of the ICE EAB G&S at an informal networking session. This will allow an excellent opportunity for one-to-one conversations with the presenters, and the chance to talk about your own professional development, and gain an insight of the life in the industry.
