Sir John will give the presentation "Civil Engineers – Shaping ourselves and our world".

As Aurecon's Project Leader Rachel Fowler led the multi-disciplinary design team that developed the flood resilient ferry terminals concept, delivering the detailed design on schedule and to a tight capital budget.

In this presentation she will explore the challenges of designing public transport infrastructure that can withstand extreme flood events, deliver pragmatic solutions to public accessibility and create an outstanding contribution to the Brisbane's cityscape.

Sir John Armitt

Sir John, currently President of ICE, is chairman of the National Express Group and City & Guilds, and Deputy Chairman of the Berkeley Group. He has long been associated with ICE, having first served on ICE's Council in 1989. He has held a number of important Chairs, including Chairman of the Management Committee, the International Committee and UK Regional Affairs Committee.
