Conservation Accreditation Register for Engineers (CARE), Plymouth

About this event

Toby Murphy is a Conservation Accredited Engineer currently working for Historic England. During his 8 years at Historic England, he has been involved in a number of conservations projects either as the Project Engineer for the English Heritage Trust, supporting the Historic England Heritage At Risk teams in initial assessments of deteriorating historic assets, or reviewing the work of other engineers in support of Historic England’s statutory role in the planning process.

The talk will outline the role of Conservation Engineers, introduce some case studies – including the work being carried out to the Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings (considered by many as the first iron framed building), and layout the path to becoming a Conservation Accredited Engineer.
