About this event

Cemfree is a novel product that replaces 100% of the Portland cement in conventional concrete mix designs with alkali-activated GGBS (Ground Granulated Blastfurnace Slag). David Ball Group have been developing this product for a number of years now and were granted a UK patent in 2015. The talk will touch on the following:

  • Overview of new product development
  • Key drivers – i.e. environmental/sustainability issues associated with Portland cement-based concretes
  • Outline of product testing and labwork
  • Summary of large-scale field trials
  • Development of performance-based standards in the industry
