The walk follows the route of the River Westbourne. The first and last parts are through salubrious residential roads, with the centre part through urban high streets and recreation grounds, with a short length alongside the Grand Union Canal and a longer stretch through Hyde Park. The route is Hampstead , West Hampstead, Kilburn, Maida Vale, Paddington Basin, Lancaster Gate, Knightsbridge and Sloane Square.
The distance covered will be 4.65 miles before lunch and 3.6 after. The lunch stop will be at Paddington Basin. There is no specific venue but there are many cafes, restaurants and pubs here and walkers can take their pick.
