8 miles. The distance will be about 5 miles before lunch and 3 miles afterwards.
The walk will start at High Street Kensington station and finish at Baker Street station.
The walk will pass numerous places of interest, including the new Design Museum, Holland Park, Kensington Garden, Primrose Hill, Regent’s Park, and a section of the Regent’s Canal.
Please note that the woodland path in Holland Park, and the towpath of the Regent’s Canal, are likely to be muddy and slippery in wet weather. It is advisable to have appropriate footwear. (See appendix - a particular highlight of the Design Museum and Kyoto Garden.
On leaving High Street Kensington tube station we will make a brief visit to the new Design Museum which is just 6 minutes away. (Toilet facilities available).
On leaving the Design Museum, we enter Holland Park at the Earls Court Gate. We pass through the Kyoto Garden and exit Holland Park at Holland Park Avenue.
From there, we walk eastward following Holland Park Avenue, Notting Hill Gate, and Bayswater Road. We enter Kensington Gardens at Black Lion Gate and exit at Marlborough Gate next to the Fountain (Toilet entry – 20p).
Here we take Sussex Garden Road to enter the Paddington Basin at the entrance of South Wharf Road. At Little Venice we follow the Regent’s Canal eastwards.
We will leave the Regent’s Canal at the point of the Primrose Hill foot bridge, which is also the bridge linking Primrose Hill to Regent’s Park.
If the time and situation permit, we will make a gradual uphill climb from the Regent’s Canal to Prince Albert Road and further up the viewpoint of Primrose Hill (219 feet above sea level).
From the Primrose Hill Foot Bridge we will enter Regent’s Park, passing the Boating Lake and exiting at Clarence Gate, finishing the walk at Baker Street Station.
