Connecting to the BIM world – hands-on workshop

About this event

Building Information Modelling (BIM) encompasses the relationship of people, processes and technology through the intelligent digitization of construction processes and artefacts including how they are created, used, maintained and re-adapted or disposed. An opportunity has arisen for stakeholders to connect to the technology aspect of the BIM world. The IET Oxfordshire invites interested persons to a free BIM hands-on workshop at the Oxford Brookes University BIM Lab which offers access to the latest BIM software packages such as Revit Building Design Suit, Navisworks, CostX, etc.

Participants will be able to:

  • apply basic modelling techniques in BIM environments
  • execute construction project management tasks with BIM and
  • develop BIM capacity in exchanging data for collaboration.

The workshop will consist of an exposition to BIM applications (0.5 hrs) and a guided hands-on tutorial for participants (1.5 hrs). A prior knowledge of BIM software packages is not necessary. Please note that there are only 34 spaces offered on a first-come first-served basis.
