Construction Platform Design and Digitisation, webinar

Watch this event

The Mid Group are actively involved as “Integrators” in a UKRI funded programme within the Construction Innovation Hub that seeks to transform construction procurement and delivery based on a platform design. The governing concept is that supply and demand of public infrastructure is “mapped” both identifying future pipelines of projects and the current market products available to meet that demand.

Mid Group are committed to procuring all of their projects through this new digital platform system by 2025. Currently they are preparing a 7D interactive residential platform model which will be a system agnostic platform design tool. It will allow a prospective home owner, housing association, developer or local authority to tailor the capital cost, construction period, and running costs of a prospective residential property digitally… all within a coherent pre-planning authorised digital environment centred on sustainable living and thriving communities.

This webinar is co-badged with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).

Massimiliano Crea CEng MICE

Massimiliano Crea

Massimiliano has delivered a range of projects in a variety of different sectors including education, healthcare, residential and commercial.Projects he has worked on range from a £1.5billion Canadian super hospital to school frameworks, and from high end residential and commercial projects to office refurbishments, each with valuable lessons to be learnt. He is passionate about integrating innovation within the construction industry. To this end, he is a Strategy Board Member of the Construction Innovation Hub and was invited to  join the Construction Leadership Council Manufacturing Board with the aim of  exploring ways in which platform designs and Modern Methods of Construction can be integrated and normalised through public and private procurement programmes.

The recently issued Construction Playbook will inevitably change the dynamics of this procurement and shift the balance in favour of smart MMC solutions. This transition, however, will not be without its challenges. Devising and nurturing new and effective working environments that ensure that all stakeholders feel they belong to each stage of the construction process will be key.
