Coping with floods as the climate changes, Barrow-in-Furness

About this event

The Environment Agency play a key role in flood risk management within the UK. This role includes the construction of food alleviation schemes and integration of innovative ideas whilst planning for an uncertain future of change within the natural and man-made world.

Following the storm events of 2015/16, the Environment Agency are embarking on a new and exciting chapter in the future of flood risk management within Cumbria. It continues to reduce flood risk to communities whilst planning for the potential changes threatened by climatic uncertainty. Numerous schemes and enhancements are planned or under construction throughout the county, including Ulverston, of which many consider natural techniques in support of hard engineered options.
