The use of Artificial Ground Freezing (AGF) for temporary soil strengthening and seepage control is an effective alternative to grouting when dealing with soils whose degree of finesses would imply the use of highly expensive chemical grouts. However, compared to grouting, the application of this improvement technique usually needs a more accurate preliminary soil investigation campaign and a design assisted by specific calculation software.

Mr. Vingiani is Senior Geotechnical Engineer at the Design, Research and Development Dept. of Trevi S.p.A., an international specialized contractor operating in the field of Foundation Engineering. He holds a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Padua (Italy) and a postgraduate diploma in Geotechnical Engineering. He boasts 30 years of uninterrupted experience in dealing with the underground.
With half of this period spent managing construction jobsites worldwide and the rest in designing deep foundations and soil treatment interventions at the headquarter of the company, he has acquired a comprehensive and qualified knowledge in performing structural and plastic diaphragm walls, driven, bored and CFA piles, rock and ground anchors, soil improvements by cement and chemical grouting, jet grouting, deep mixing and compensation grouting.
Mr. Vingiani has been the co-author of seven technical papers published and presented at international conferences.
