This scheme will convert the M1 into a controlled motorway between junctions 23a and 24 and an all lane running smart motorway between junctions 24 and 25. In total 7.5miles (12km) will be upgraded, construction began in early 2017 and is due for completion later this year.
Focussing on the M1 J23a-25 the speakers will provide project insight and facts about the scope and approach to delivery and highlight the technical and production challenges posed by the scheme.

Danny is Costain/Galliford Try's Project Manager with responsibility to deliver this scheme. Danny is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has worked for Galliford Try for over 20 years, predominantly on infrastructure works in the midlands.
Stuart is the Project Manager for the Amey-Arup Joint Venture that has undertaken the design of the M1 J23a-J25 Smart Motorway Scheme on behalf of Highways England. Stuart is a Chartered Civil Engineer with Arup and has 16 years' experience in the design and delivery of highways and infrastructure projects.
Dave is the Highways England Project Manager (Client) for the M1 J23a-25 Smart Motorway Scheme - with 14 years experience of delivering SM schemes from the Dynamic Hard Shoulder Running "Pilot" scheme on the M42 (Active Traffic Management at the time) through Managed Motorway schemes around the M6 Birmingham Box, to Smart Motorways All Lane Running now on the M1.
