About this event

Please note: this event has been postponed to a later date.

The UK road sector's approach to asset management is maturing. Since 2004, we have had guidance, support and tools that have helped practitioners make significant progress. There is no doubt that local authorities understand the importance of implementing as asset management and they can see the potential benefits. However, there is still much work to be done in fully embedding asset management principles in the highway service. At the same time, technology changes rapidly and offers us the opportunity to overcome some of the potential blockers of implementation.

The presentation will reflect in the following question: Have we, as a sector, taken the opportunity to embed technology in highway service, embracing real innovation and thinking outside the box?

Digital solutions can help us understand the needs of our customers, record the asset we own and manage, monitor asset performance and resilience, make the right investment decisions and optimise by modelling various scenarios, demonstrate impact of decisions and communicate with stakeholders. What more can we do to keep up with the pace of technological developments, benefit from the digital world and manage risks more effectively? Often, when we speak about digital asset management we focus on software solutions, which are of course an important component. But the big opportunity for using digital to bring change, need to focus on the end-to-end asset management process.
