Doha Metro design and construction of Msheireb Station

About this event

In 2013, Qatar Railways Company engaged a joint venture to design and build Package 5 of the Doha Metro valued at £700M, which includes Education City Station and Msheireb station as the Metro’s jewel in the crown situated in the heart of Doha. Msheireb station is one of the most complex and largest below-ground metro stations in the world.

Mott MacDonald was selected to provide full multidisciplinary detailed design for this cut and cover station, including ground engineering disciplines comprising civil, structural and geotechnical design of both main temporary and permanent works, engineering hydrology, ground movement impact assessments, instrumentation and monitoring.

The presentation will focus on the design of Msheireb station, which included complex structural and geotechnical interactions with numerous interfaces. The project was delivered through a fully integrated design and construction process, aided by Building Information Modelling and rigorous document management by an extremely diverse team.
