Emerging Engineers Award 2019 – call for papers in South Branch, Winchester

About this event

The Emerging Engineers Award promotes and rewards outstanding communication of civil engineering ideas and research.

Student, graduate and trainee technician members of the ICE are now invited to submit a paper on a civil engineering topic in the format of research, report or an essay.

Entering the Emerging Engineers Award (EEA) allows applicants to:

  • Showcase their talent in the wider engineering community
  • Develop communication skills and confidence in public speaking
  • Improve written and verbal skills in preparation for Professional Review
  • Promote their employer or universities name to the industry

Entries should be based on an applicant’s own work and can be adapted from university projects, quarterly employment reports or professional review reports.

Entries consist of an initial single A4 page synopsis (approximately 400 words) which, if shortlisted, should be developed further into a final submission up to 4,000 words.

The Dr Mike Cooper Memorial Award will be presented to the winning submission along with £150 prize money, with a further £75 and £25 awarded for second and third places respectively. The prize fund has been generously donated on Mike’s behalf by his family, friends and colleagues.

The regional winner will be shortlisted for the 2019 Emerging Engineers Global Final, where the prestigious Institution Medal and further cash prizes can be won.

Submission date for the  application form and synopsis is Friday 01 March 2019. Please send your entry form and synopsis to [email protected].

Those chosen for the branch final will be notified by Friday 15 March 2019.
