About this event

This talk encompasses the history of the Kelpies, from initial ideas and development through to the delivery on site, and the success story of the Kelpies after a year in situ.

It discusses some of the key technical challenges the engineers faced throughout the process from the prospective of the lead engineer, with emphasis on the working relationship developed with the artist, Andy Scott, which was key to ensuring the finished design met his critical requirements for aesthetics and impact whilst providing a manufacturable, efficient and safe design.

This a joint event with IStructE East Anglia.
