Explore Engineering: Civil Engineers Club walk for ICE 200 - A Tideway walk for engineers, London

About this event

The walk will start at Three Mill Islands in East London, adjacent to Abbey Mill Pumping station – the reception site for Tideway East. We will walk along Limehouse Cut and look at challenges CVB and Tideway face on their eastern section of Thames Tideway Tunnel.

From Limehouse, we will walk down to Tideway’s King Edward Memorial Park Foreshore site to look at their temporary cofferdam from the public footpath. Following lunch at a local pub in Wapping, we will then walk over to Blackfriars whilst still looking and discussing not only Tideway but different bits of engineering history along river Thames.

The overall distance is approximately 10kms and you should be aware that parts of the canal towpath are narrow, undulating and unpaved.

Lunch will be taken at a local pub in Wapping.
