About this event

Floating Production Storage & Offloading systems (FPSOs) are used to handle oil and gas produced from offshore wells, including separation, treatment, storage and offtake of oil into tankers.

They avoid the need for fixed offshore structures and oil pipelines to shore, especially for oil fields in deeper water or far from shore.

The overview will be followed by a description of the function and architecture of turret moorings particularly for harsh environments, including the large permanent mooring systems, and the disconnectable mooring systems which allow FPSOs to leave their station to avoid extreme events.
