Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England 2019. Karl Hardy, Environment Agency Senior Advisor for Flood and Coastal Risk Management, will share key findings and lessons learnt from the recent extensive consultation exercise, carried out as part of developing the new Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Strategy for England. He will also discuss ambitions for the Strategy especially in the context of climate change.
As part of the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan, the Environment Agency is committed to developing the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Strategy for England in an inclusive way, with a vision for our nation to be more resilient to flooding and coastal change – today, tomorrow and to 2100.
The aim of this evening’s talk will be to share with you the key findings and lessons learnt from an extensive exercise over the Summer 2018, where we reached out to 90 organisations to generate over 200 ideas on where the Strategy should take us. The talk will also touch on our ambitions for the Strategy especially in the context of climate change, which has become very prominent in the world’s media and on government agendas, despite other national and international priorities.
