Improving flood defences in the North West.

About this event

The North West has been hit by many severe storms in the last few years, posing a challenge to communities, emergency responders and organisational bodies responsible for the management of flood risk.

This presentation will provide an overview of the impact of recent flood events and explain how the Environment Agency prioritises capital investment in new flood risk reduction measures. We will also look at some recent examples of flood risk management schemes constructed in the region, exploring how sustainable development principals have been incorporated into the design.

Speakers: Mark Shepard and Debra Thomson.

Refreshments will be served from 18:00 for a meeting start of 18:30.

Organised by ICE Lancashire Branch.
