Drawing experience from numerous new-build design, conversion and upgrade projects undertaken by the speakers over the past quarter century, this presentation will consider and discuss the history together with recent and potential future developments of FPSOs.
This lecture will consider the many conflicting and diverse design and operational criteria that are addressed coherently during the design process to produce robust, safe and cost effective solutions for an offshore industry operating in a financially constrained environment.
David’s career began in 1973 as a Ship Draughtsman with Swan Hunter Shipbuilders on the River Tyne, he quickly joined the management team taking up various positions in production, production engineering and project management. David left in 1993 and worked in Offshore, Engineering and Shiprepair companies as General Manager and Director. He joined Babcock in 2007 and is Programme Director for commercial marine and oil and gas.
Keith is a Ship Designer and Naval Architect, he leads multidisciplinary teams formulating design solutions for clients worldwide. Having worked in several Shipbuilding and Shiprepair yards on the River Tyne, he joined Swan Hunter Shipbuilders in 1990, and in late 1994 Armstrong Technology, now Babcock. Keith has published over forty technical papers etc. and given many public presentations, and he is a member of numerous technical committees.
