From collapse, through cause, to court, Birmingham

About this event

Construction collapses and fatalities have causes.

Speaker Jan Andresen will look at the work of HM Specialist Inspectors of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), the role of the HSE in the Construction Industry and take us through a series of technical case-studies into incidents and collapses in the UK.

From tower crane and retaining wall collapses to the failure of steel framed or masonry buildings we will focus on a technical examination of the causes or mistakes, forensic engineering, the investigative process and the legal consequences for those involved.

Many of the cases that will be examined made national headlines - but the level of technical detail and engineers professional commentary has never been heard outside of a courtroom - until now.

This is a Joint event with the Institution of Structural Engineers West Midlands. Refreshments will be provided, please register for this event to assist us with catering.
