From two to three dimensions: perspectives, pitfalls and promise of Structures from Motion, Plymouth

About this event

Structures from Motion (SfM) is the process of creating a digital 3D representation of an object or scene from a series of digital 2D images. In its practical application by the civil engineer it is a relatively new technique, but one that has quickly gained traction in, and spilled over from, the allied surveying industry.

John Grimes Partnership have been using Structures from Motion in-house in the last year or so. This talk will provide an engineer’s overview of the technique and share experiences of applying SfM in a number of situations before exploring how the technique and its use is evolving.
