Geotechnical challenges on HS2, Chelmsford

About this event

The design and construction of HS2 is a huge engineering project in terms of both scale and complexity. This presentation will cover some of the key geotechnical challenges, including the UK's largest ever ground investigation, the geodynamics of high-speed trains on earthworks, the approach to conventional earthworks at unconventional scales and the impacts of a digital age.

HS2's Lead Geotechnical Engineer Nick Sartain has lectured on this subject at high-profile venues across the UK. Essex Branch is delighted to welcome him to Chelmsford.

This event is free. Refreshments will be served from 6.00pm and the lecture will start at 6.30pm. The venue is a ten minute walk from Chelmsford railway station. Visitor's parking is available on campus from 4.30pm. Booking is not essential but helps us with planning.
