Mike Scott, Director, GroundSolve will give a presentation on the industry basics as it rushes forward to new and exciting markets such as BIM and digital engineering. Standards need to remain high and engineers must not forget how to undertake basic civil engineering to reduce risk.
This talk introduces the basics of Geotechnical Risk Management, as set out in guidance documents and presents examples of what happens when good practice is not followed.
The session is aimed at stimulating thought in the industry, which will enable risk on future projects to be reduced.
A link to the event will be included in your booking confirmation email.
Mike is a chartered engineering geologist with over 35 years’ experience, most of which has involved work in North Wales, most notably at the Rhuallt Hill section of the A55, where Mike spent two years on site.
Mike's early career was working for Arup geotechnics based in Cardiff. He also worked overseas in Thailand and Hong Kong, where he exposed the largest foundation fraud of all time.
Mike started GroundSolve Ltd in 2000 and his company has undertaken extensive expert witness work, which has highlighted many flaws in the way site investigation is procured and the way works are designed and constructed.
