Graduates and Students Australia Delegation 2018

About this event

The Australia Delegation 2018 will be held from 8 to 14 April 2018, aiming to encourage learning and networking at an international scale. Delegates will learn the concepts and practices with regards to the development of transport infrastructures through site visits, seminars and meetings with the local engineers. Also, they will appreciate how civil engineering responds to the social changes and challenges through the implementation of the infrastructure projects.

Sydney, one of Australia’s largest cities, has an extensive network of public transport system. Similar to Hong Kong, the population of Sydney has grown rapidly from 4 million in 2011 to 5 million in 2016 and is expected to reach 6.5 million by 2036. The rapid population growth is accompanied by the enormous demand for both passenger and freight transportation and consequently road networks and transport systems. Every day, there are 16.8 million journeys made in the Sydney Metropolitan. Therefore, New South Wales Long Term Master Plan was released in 2012 and set the direction for transport planning, providing a framework for transport policy and investment decisions that respond to key challenges.

With the theme of “Mobility Efficiency in Metropolis”, the forthcoming delegation to Australia will focus on the transport strategy in Sydney. Delegates will learn the concepts and practices with regards to the development of transport infrastructures through site visits, seminars and meetings with the local engineers. Also, they will appreciate how civil engineering responds to the social changes and challenges through the implementation of the infrastructure projects.
