The first phase of the Great Yorkshire Way / Finningley & Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme was delivered by a unique public/private sector partnership led by Doncaster MBC and comprises 5.5km of new carriageway and six new bridges over watercourses and railway lines, including the 125mph electrified East Coast Main Line.
Journey times to Doncaster-Sheffield Airport (DSA) have been cut by 20 minutes and traffic flows on a previously heavily congested urban corridor have been reduced by 20%. The project has dramatically improved transport connections for residents and businesses and has facilitated large scale economic development, including a new 6million sq ft rail freight interchange and 1,200 new homes.
It has been recognised as an exemplar infrastructure and economic regeneration project and has won five major accolades:
The success of the first phase has unlocked the £10m of funding required to complete the second 1.6km phase. Funded by DMBC and Sheffield City Region, work commenced on this section in 2017 and will be complete by May 2018.
Tea and coffee will be served at registration for the meeting, at no charge to those attending. Following the meeting a cash bar will be open and a cold self-service buffet (+chips) will be served - to be ordered in advance when booking for the meeting and paid in cash at registration. The cost for lunch will be £11 per person and £2 for dessert.
If you book lunch but later you find that you are unable to attend, provided that you notify the RICE Hon Sec not later than the booking deadline below, you will not be charged. If you cancel after that we will always endeavour to make an adjustment with the venue so that you may not have to pay, but we reserve the right to request reimbursement from you if that isn't possible.
If you wish to attend this meeting, please advise the RICE Hon Secretary no later than 16.00 on Thursday 22nd March 2018 stating your lunch requirements, either by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by post to: Hugh Allan, 8 West End Close, Horsforth, Leeds LS18 5JN.
Note: RICE meetings are open to all members of ICE and to members of other organisations with whom the ICE has a reciprocal arrangement, such as IET and IMechE. Additionally, RICE members may invite a guest to a RICE ordinary meeting, twice a year.
