Two talks with an engineering theme: The first of these, "Grounds for Dispute" is intended as a rough guide as to why the majority of construction difficulties are related to ground conditions.
Our speaker is Tony Bracegirdle MSc, DIC, CEng, FICE, a senior partner of the Geotechnical Consulting Group in London where he has been since the firm was founded in 1983. Prior to this he was involved with special projects and hydropower design and construction in New Zealand. He is a former Chairman of the British Geotechnical Association and a Fellow of ICE. He has been involved with a wide range of projects across the world. Since 2007 he has become more involved with dispute resolution and providing expert evidence on geotechnical matters.
The second talk, "Engineers' Liability" is a more general discussion of professional liability in context with some heart-stopping examples.
The presenter is David Gwillim LL.B (Hons), MSc, AKC, FCIArb. He is a Solicitor-Advocate with over 35 years' experience in advising the construction and engineering industry at home and abroad on procurement, contract drafting, warranties and bonds, insurance, Health & Safety as well as dispute resolution, including arbitration, mediation, adjudication, expert determination and complex litigation proceedings in Court and before professional disciplinary bodies such as ARB and RIBA.
