G&S Webinar on MiC System in Hong Kong – Design & Construction Considerations

About this event

Please note that this webinar will be held from 9 June 2021, 19:00 – 20:30 HK time.

Recently, an interesting "building block" construction method has emerged in the construction industry in Hong Kong. Similar to building LEGO blocks, the “Modular Integrated Construction” (MiC) method employs freestanding volumetric modules, with most of the interior fitting out installed, manufactured off-site and then transported to site for assembly. MiC not only minimises the duration of works on site, but also enhances productivity, site safety, environmental performance and cost-effectiveness.

ICE HKA G&S is honoured to have Mr Wilson Cheung, Director of Wilson & Associates Limited and Mr Andrew Lo, Senior Project Manager in Gammon Construction Limited, to present on the topic “MiC System in Hong Kong – Design & Construction Considerations” in this technical webinar. Mr Wilson Cheung, who has extensive experience in obtaining MiC In-Principle Acceptance from the Buildings Department in Hong Kong, will talk about the design considerations of MiC technology. Mr Andrew Lo will share his experience from the construction aspect of MiC with a case study of the Temporary Quarantine Facilities in Penny's Bay.

- Registration will be confirmed on first-come-first-served basis, and priority will be given to ICE graduate and student members.
- Only successful applicants will receive confirmation e-mail.
- Attendance certificates will be provided for this event only if attendees attend the whole event.
- Applicants with no-show records will be given lower priority in future G&S events.
